This engine meets stricter emission standards than its predecessor and features different control technology. The standard ECU limits the speed to 25 or 45 km/h. To change this, you need an unlimited Euro 5 ECU specifically developed for this engine generation. An ECU for Euro 4 is not compatible.
Euro 4 or Euro 5: how to check
The quickest way to distinguish is by the exhaust bend coming out of the engine block. The Euro 5 iGet has a thicker bend compared to its predecessor. Models from 2021 or later are always Euro 5. If your model is from 2018 to 2020, it is Euro 4. A common mistake is ordering a Euro 4 ECU for a Euro 5 engine. It does not fit electrically and will not work.
Plug-and-play or calibrate

If you have installed an 80cc cylinder on your Euro 5 block, you need the corresponding 80cc Euro 5 ECU. Cylinder capacity and emission class together determine which ECU works. If you mix them incorrectly, the engine will not run properly.
Top speed and combination with variator
With just an unlimited Euro 5 ECU, you can exceed 45 km/h, but the top speed strongly depends on your variator and roller weights. In combination with a Malossi multivar and rollers of 7.5 grams, speeds of 60 to 65 km/h are achievable. Replacing only the ECU without the variator yields less result than combining both.
